Creating a community - called TabiFolk - that connects people interested in accessible travel so they can share their world and shape their world.
+ Describe your ideal collaborative partner or partners.
I am hoping to invite individuals and organizations to join our community so that those asking questions about accessible travel can be connected with locals who can share their knowledge and help others have a worry-free vacation. No need to have a disability, just a desire to help everyone explore the world.
+ What is the most immediate or most pressing challenge you're facing right now?
As a community, being active is important. I am hoping to find people / organizations eager to share information and interact with travelers looking for help, and be evangelists for the community.
+ What is it about your idea that makes you feel good?
I believe that everyone has a right to explore their world. Seeing members help other members remove barriers to travel (like lack of information) makes my heart soar.
+ What makes your idea innovative? Why has no one ever done it before?
While social networks have been around for a while, and some groups exist on other platforms, this platform is laser-focused on the 1 billion people in the world with disabilities and helping them build relationships with others who understand the challenges of traveling with a disability. In addition to being a community, it will naturally become an open database of information as users have discussions and fill in the gaps on accessibility around the world.
+ Who will benefit the most from your idea?
The immediate benefactors will be people with disabilities and those who travel with them. However, the accessible travel market is large but mostly untapped. As members get the knowledge and confidence to they need to travel more, they will have an economic impact on the places they visit. And, as they contribute economically to those locations, they will indirectly improve the accessibility of the area (by showing a need for accessible hotels, restaurants, shopping, transportation) which will in-turn benefit local residents as well.

TabiFolk will bring people from around the world together to build connections and share knowledge.
It will encourage sustainable cities and countries as people explore their local and global communities and better understand the importance of protecting the planet.
It will help businesses, both directly and indirectly involved in the accessible tourism industry access a new market segment.
