Peer-to-peer social travel & homestay club for older adults - empowering members to travel, connect, meet, and stay with each other, as part of a trusted over 50s community.
+ Describe your ideal collaborative partner or partners.
Looking for a tech partner/CTO to help develop and lead new version 2.0 of the platform.
Keen to find strategic partnerships with international travel & tourism organisations seeking to attract the growing 'silver' or senior tourism market. This could be travel agencies, major hotel groups, airlines.... as well as national tourism boards.
+ What is the most immediate or most pressing challenge you're facing right now?
We need to re-build our platform based on a pandemic partial pivot. We need resources to do this quickly - especially tech talent.
+ What is it about your idea that makes you feel good?
After such an extended period of disconnection and loneliness. our social travel model can give older adults the means and the confidence to travel again, and enjoy social & cultural interaction whether at home or away.
+ What makes your idea innovative? Why has no one ever done it before?
Freebird Club is social first; centred on people and human connections. It is designed exclusively for older adults and promotes active, healthy and inclusive ageing that focuses on fun, friendship and adventures in later life.
The senior tourism market has been very underserved. Many assume tech-based products/services are beyond the older demographic. This is an out-dated incorrect assumption, the time is ripe for age-friendly tech solution like ours.
+ Who will benefit the most from your idea?
Older adults, particularly those who would like to travel but have no-one to go with. Also older adults who may be lonely, and simply wish to connect with others whether at home or away.

UN SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being By making travel more accessible for older adults and enabling their social & cultural engagement, we will empower older people, helping alleviate loneliness & isolation, with benefits for self-esteem, quality of life, health & wellbeing.
UN SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities Ageism & age inequality are societal problems. Freebird will empower older adults with ongoing opportunities for engagement, both social & economic, thereby contributing to a more inclusive society.
UN SDG 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities We will makes cities & communities more age-friendly & inclusive for seniors. Given the demographic, Freebird will release mostly untapped accommodation into the tourism market of cities & communities (rooms that would never otherwise be rented out) which is a more sustainable model for all.
