Alan Elliott speaks at Indonesia's first "tourpreneur” campus

I recently spoke to students at Politeknik Internasional Bali (PIB) — Indonesia's first "tourpreneur” campus.

The theme, "Tourism Tech: Key Driver to a Smart & Sustainable Tourism Destination," highlighted the important role of technology in tourism, aligning well with PIB's educational goals.

The presentation provided a platform for discussing how technology can enhance sustainability in tourism, reflecting PIB's commitment to preparing students for the evolving industry landscape.

During the event, I shared insights from The Sigmund Project, and it was encouraging to see nearly 150 attendees engage with the content. The discussions emphasized the need for collaboration and innovation in the tourism sector, which is crucial for addressing current challenges. It’s not just about having a seat at the table; it’s about making sure that table is designed for productive dialogue.

The importance of advanced technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) was a focal point of the webinar. I appreciated the case studies shared by fellow speakers, showcasing successful implementations of these technologies. The reality is, embracing these advancements isn’t just optional—it’s essential for survival in today’s competitive tourism landscape.

A notable takeaway from the event was PIB's interest in collaboration. Their invitation to explore partnerships with The Sigmund Project aligns with our shared goals of advancing tourism education and practice. I look forward to engaging with PIB’s community and exploring how we can work together to foster innovation in the sector. In an industry that thrives on connections, the willingness to collaborate can be the game-changer for both institutions and students alike.

PIB College is taking important steps as a leader in tourism education, and I see potential for meaningful collaborations that can benefit both students and industry professionals.

Ultimately, those who adapt will lead the charge into a more sustainable future.
