DGV is responsible for tourism marketing in Canada, the United States, and select international markets, while also focusing on destination stewardship within the local community.
Sustainability is integral to DGV's operations, supported by members, residents, and local government partners.
Over 10 years, DGV has achieved milestones like launching the IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism Conference, becoming carbon neutral, and obtaining Biosphere Certification.
They now aim to develop a Circular Economy Strategy for the local visitor economy, leveraging their expertise and partnering with selected proponents.
DMOs like DGV are evolving from marketing roles to destination leadership and stewardship, with an opportunity to pioneer circular economy strategies.
A systems thinking approach will be integral in developing the Circular Economy Strategy, aligning with provincial and federal commitments to circular economy principles.
