In one sentence, tell us about your idea.

Eco-friendly innovation and education for all.

In regards to finding the right collaborator, what is the most immediate or most pressing challenge you're facing right now?

The main challenge is to encourage the government of the importance of cooperation in hosting fundraising events. With the help of the government, more power, tools, and resources will be accessible. Keeping that in mind, more results and better outcomes can be accomplished. Small changes can make a great impact, and by taking a proactive approach we can reduce our pollutants and preserve our beautiful planet.

BONUS QUESTION: What is it about your idea that makes you feel good?

This idea takes well-known information about the importance of recycling and creates an opportunity to create funds to help an existing issue in the waste management industry. Our idea also provides resources to consumers so they can participate in proper recycling at the events they attend. If we are able to help people learn to properly discard their waste, that change will be reflected in the impacts of that event.

What makes your idea innovative? Why has no one ever done it before?

Our idea is innovative through the fact that not many people think about the small overarching decisions they make. Small, yet tangible ideas are often overlooked due to how miniscule they may appear. In such an industrious society, small yet realistic changes don’t often receive the attention they truly deserve. It does really take a village, and through our idea, we strive to create a path of innovative change.

How far does your idea reach?

National

Ideally, when would you launch this idea?

Two years from now

Who will benefit the most from your idea?

Our idea will be most beneficial to the event organizers, as this will aid in their recycling programs. Participants will be instructed how to properly disassemble their waste and where to put it, which will actually create less work for the event clean-up crew to manage. As well as doing fundraising to help fund this project, it doesn’t add any stress on event planners to come up with their own funds.

At Sigmund, we are interested in ideas at the intersection of People, Planet, and Profit. How does your idea support these three categories?

Hosting concerts and other types of small local events around the city that will include the sustainable aspect and education on the topic. Climate change and sustainability have been major issues that our planet is facing today. To align with the current problem and seek solutions, the idea has been initiated. With the entertainment aspect involved, people may find it attractive to attend the event, even without the desire to support and encourage sustainability. Small scale events will take an educational approach, by streaming videos on how to recycle, encouraging staying away from single-use plastics, and learning about how to recycle properly.

When tickets for the event will be sold, the funds will be allocated towards the initial idea and meaning of the event. Additional donations will be accepted towards supporting the eco-friendly initiative of the city. All collected funds will be allocated towards the improvement and further development of current practices regarding recycling. Further creation of educational events and sessions will be planned and held on the scale of the city.

Our project focuses on the planet and how people can contribute to protecting it. At events that we have attended ourselves and even in our workplaces and school we notice that although there are signs that are supposed to educate people in proper recycling, it is not being followed all of the time. We want our idea to involve people so they feel that they can create a positive change in the environment even from their small actions.
